Poole Harbour
The Marina at Weymouth is the other side of an opening bridge. It lifts at 8am and then every 2 hours. We took the opportunity to leave early. It was raining hard as we left the harbour. The wind was a steady force 5, with poor visibility and moderate waves. With one reef in the mainsail we cracked along consistently doing over 8 knots and at one stage doing nearly 12 knots over the ground. For the non sailors it was blowing hard, we couldn't see much and the boat was bouncing up and down. We did debate going all the way to the Solent but decided to seek refuge in Poole. Now we're here we wished we'd carried on. We're warm and comfortable but there's not much to see or do. Supper will be on the boat.

Have a wander round Brownsea island and see some red squirrels. I used to love sailing to Poole..once we anchored in the river near the Arne peninsula where there are some lovely deserted beaches to explore
