River Yealm
The first task was to buy the papers. I thought we would have to listen to the Archers but Lucinda decided instead to drag me round the Devon coast far enough to work up an appetite. We had lunch in Noss Mayo, showered ashore and then sat on the boat reading the news. The power of the tides is extraordinary. At lunchtime there was only mud outside the pub and people were walking across the riverbed. This evening we have gone back for supper and boats are moored at the entrance. The weight of water moved every 12 hours is amazing. With metronomic regularity the sea comes in and then recedes some 3 or 4 metres in height. The work involved is enormous yet none of us are aware of the same force which also interact with us.

I think the river Yealm is quite a magical, secret little place. Hidden away from the real world. Have you found a boat called "Scoline"?
It's owned by an anaesthetist
