Oblivion in Inverness.

After a 5 am start we finally made Inverness. It was a slog against wind and tide so that the direct distance was about 48 miles but we travelled 61 miles over the ground and more than 71 through the water. However It was a glorious day, clear and bright. The winds were strong, force 5 or 6, but manageable with 2 or 3 reefs. We now have the opportunity for a bit of rest, to do some essential repairs, and to get ready to enter the Caledonian canal. The boys are off tomorrow for a cycling whisky tour. Lucinda and I will go off exploring Inverness.

Congratulations on what sounds like a challenging first week.
Watch out for the cycling whisky - in my student days in Glasgow I seem to recall being knocked over several times by it.
