Coll

Today was almost windless and Ardnamurchan point once again failed to live up to its fearsome reputation. We motored most of the 30 miles to get here. We were only a few miles from our destination when we were approached by a group of inquisitive dolphins. They played around our boat for about 10 minutes diving under us, riding the bow wave and checking us over. We arrived in the harbour at Coll. When we decided to anchor we discovered that the windlass was not working. Fortunately Lucinda was strong enough to lower the anchor by hand, pull it up again when the anchor did not hold, and then to lower it again. So far the boat hasn't drifted off. We hope it won't tonight.

P.S. message to everyone at Church Hill School: missing you all but I am having an amazing time. Homework for this week: what is a windlass, what is the difference between a dolphin and a porpoise and how long is the island of Coll?
