The Hamble

We've left the boat in the Hamble to go home.  Sophie and David have come to stay with us as their baby is due in 10 days. That is almost certainly the end of Lucinda's journey but I hope to return to the boat to complete the voyage back to the River Crouch. Iain came out in his RIB to meet us in the Solent and take some photographs of us underway - many thanks. Cowes week started today and the Solent was swarming with boats. It was a challenge finding clear water on the short sail round from Lymington.

Until I return this blog is suspended. I will update the statistics and add some more photographs. It will resume briefly for the final part of the journey. We have had an amazing voyage and neither of us feel ready to go back to our day jobs. There were many wonderful moments and surprisingly few scary or worrying episodes, and there were very few days when we couldn't sail. The journey was less challenging than we thought it would be and we have both gained confidence in the boat and our abilities. We met some wonderful people, visited some extraordinary places, learned much more about our own country, and ate and drank very very well. And would you ever call your boat 'Donkey's Foreskin'?  - well someone did.
